Where I Find Inspiration – 3 Everyday Women that Inspire Me and Why
Part I – Rosetta Thurman
Inspiration, being motivated to action. What inspires you? Do you look for inspiration or do you wait until it happens upon you? Every day I look for ways to be motivated, to stay focused on my goals and to know that God is in charge of all. It’s hard and some days are harder than most. There are three women in particular that I use as Inspiration For The Impossible. They’ve all left normal behind and are choosing to live life in the now, not the – I wish I could or I plan to.
Take Rosetta Thurman, she’s a professed minimalist. A minimalist is basically a person who lives on less for more. Rosetta lives nowhere and owns virtually nothing. Let me explain. She doesn’t own a house or a car or an apartment. No, she doesn’t live on the street. She lives where ever she wants. Right now, that’s Honolulu, HI or is it Argentina or Spain? She does own an Apple computer, a cell phone and clothes. All kept in the room she rents or the two carry-on bags she uses when she travels. She runs her business from her Apple computer and uses her cell phone to book speaking engagements. I stumbled across her blog, Happy Black Woman (happyblackwomen.com) back in 2012 when she posted “My First 3 Days in Rome and Why I Didn’t Like It”. I thought, what? Who doesn’t like Rome? Did she lose her luggage? Get lost? Was she robbed? I couldn’t imagine anything about Rome not to like. After that post I was hooked, sucked into her free-spirit and genuine happiness. I still read her blog posts today as a pick me up. Though I don’t want her lifestyle, her ability to pick up and follow her dreams inspires me to follow mine.
