Reality TV: Inspiration or Impediment To You Fulfilling Your Dream?
Reality TV is one of the newest trends in the world. Right now it’s really hot. It’s all the rage. It’s the latest in texts, posts, tweets and scopes. But at what price do we watch? What purpose do they serve? Do they assist in your growth and development? Do they show you how to achieve your dreams? Some say the shows are just pure entertainment. Cool! But, others say the shows destroy brain activity and subliminally send messages that make dysfunctional behavior acceptable. We all know what you see over and over, you become.
In my non-scientific research (asking the people in my office and on my commute) I find that people glued to reality television shows are people that feel their lives are fulfilled, dare I say finished and there is nothing left to achieve. They have jobs, are married (or working on it) and have had children. These three events fulfill their lives. They don’t seek to become…. more. There isn’t an entrepreneurial spirit seeking greater achievements. There isn’t a voice down deep inside telling them there is more to life.
But the ambitious…..they possess a natural curiosity. They look for more than just entertainment. They look for inspiration. They desire to make a mark on the world. To leave it a better place. They seek knowledge and while the occasional entertaining flick is enjoyed it does not define them. They have more than a voice, there is a yearning inside to make it and make it big.
Which person are you? Which group do you belong to? Do you have a yearning down deep inside? Or, have you achieved and found contentment in a routine? Neither is wrong. Neither is better.
How do you see it? Is Reality TV an inspiration or an impediment? Share your answer on Facebook or Twitter.
